Synopsis
Winner of six Academy Awards, including Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Adapted Screenplay. Fred Zinnemann’s A MAN FOR ALL SEASONS, based upon the play by Robert Bolt, tells the story of Sir Thomas More, a devout Catholic and Chancellor of England, who refuses to endorse King Henry VIII's wish to divorce Catherine of Aragon in order to marry Anne Boleyn. More’s moral integrity and unwavering principles lead to his downfall, as he stands firm against the king’s demands, ultimately facing execution for his beliefs. Paul Scofield stars as Sir Thomas More, delivering a powerful and critically acclaimed performance, for which he won the Academy Award for Best Actor. Arriving in a lavish new 4K restoration the film is widely praised for its intelligent script, strong performances, and historical accuracy and continues to be celebrated for its exploration of themes of conscience, power, and the conflict between personal integrity and political expediency, delivering it a classic of historical cinema for all seasons.
