Synopsis

Have you ever thought something was a little…off about the neighbours? In the case of The Radleys, the neighbours are vampires. In this funny yet sinister adaptation of Matt Haig’s book of the same name, Damian Lewis and Kelly Macdonald play a married couple, Peter and Helen. They appear relatively normal – a nice house, two teenage children (who do not know about the whole vampire thing), and normal jobs and events around them. That is until their daughter, having recently turned vegan, eventually gives in to her hereditary bloodlust and after that, things start to get really weird! Avoiding the usual Vampiric cliches, this dark comedy offers a fresh, inventive take on the classical vampire troupes, with Lewis (in a dual role) and Macdonald sinking their teeth into the suburban gothic aesthetic. A sharp script, clever casting and atmospheric cinematography bring Haig's quirky take on vampires effectively to the screen offering a unique horror comedy experience.

Awards & Reviews

The Radleys is one of those rare cases where all the disciplines that make a film come together in total unison and deliver an amazing story.
